American Committee for Peace in
Chechnya (United States)
Illuminating the moral and strategic dimensions of the second Russo-Chechen
war necessarily underscores the development and institution of policies
consistent with the protection of human rights and the promotion of regional
stability. Yet despite compelling geopolitical analysis by distinguished
scholars, and widespread documentation of atrocities by journalists and
humanitarian organizations, an effective U.S. policy toward the conflict
remains conspicuously absent. Working in conjunction with partners throughout
the world, the American Committee for Peace in Chechnya seeks to fill this
critical void.
Drawing on the energy, experience and expertise of more than one hundred
distinguished Americans, ACPC seeks to advance public awareness about the
Chechen war and its implications for human rights, democracy in Russia and
regional stability. What is more, the Committee seeks to develop and promote
policies consistent with promoting the end of the Chechen conflict and the
protection of human rights through legislative initiatives, mass media and
public diplomacy.
